327 S. FIFTH ST.

We have recently rebuilt a leaning, interior, load-bearing wall that divides our living and dining rooms. The prior owner had, in 1987, decided that it would be lovely to take out a pair of lovely old pocket doors in order that they might cut out and frame the window openings on the wall on either side of the archway in order to make the rooms visually contiguous. They achieved their objective but the wall’s structural integrity was, under the direction of an architect, weakened, and this needed to be rectified if we valued, apart from the home, our lives. At any rate, our contractor has completed the structural work and decorative elements of the plaster and wood trim. Reinstallation of the pocket doors will follow.
The wall is without doubt actually stronger than when if was originally built. We are grateful for the extraordinary carpentry craftsmanship that AMA brought to our project and we hope to have them perform other work as well.
I hope that we might be able to count on you for some of the other work that will doubtless last beyond our natural lives, but we will nonetheless recommend you to anyone who might have need of high quality, dependable work.

Just a word of thanks for the wonderful job done... Every time I walk in the door, I am amazed at the transformation that has taken place.

Thank you for doing such a nice job
on renovating our kitchen. It was a big deal for us to take the plunge into the project. We weren’t sure which company to hire, but had heard good things about AMA from our neighbors, so we chose you and we’re glad we did.
You took the time to discuss all the parts of the project we were worried about, and helped us make informed decisions about hardware, etc. You helped us utilize our space better, in ways we hadn’t even considered, and you helped steer us towards reputable contractors when needed for other aspects of the job.
The workmanship was superb, and we appreciate that you kept all of the dangerous and dusty debris out of the rest of the house. Once you started our job, you kept on it, uninterrupted, till it was completed.
Thank you for everything. We will not hesitate to recommend you, and will call you again if we ever do another renovation.

Thank you for doing such a nice restoration job
at our 1820s manor house. It was a daunting prospect to bring all of those historic windows back to a state where they could be opened and shut. Your company patiently and gently (without harsh chemicals) stripped the doors and wainscoting of centuries of peeling paint, restored the built-ins to their original glory, and because of your expertise, the trim is clean, crisp, and complete again. The gable windows were completely repaired, and the crumbling foundation and sagging headers are safe and supportive again.
We appreciate the knowledge of old buildings you brought to this involved project. It is clear that you not only know about the appropriate measures to take to restore and preserve, but have a love of the craft and history involved. We were thrilled with your discovery of the carpenter’s signatures carved in the hidden wood from so long ago.
Through your contacts, we had a fascinating historic survey done on the house that clarified its long, obscure past, and helped us make informed decisions. We also managed to get all of the ancient paint stains off of the antique brick without doing any damage.
Nobody can believe the before and after pictures. We would not hesitate recommending you to others, and wish you well in your future projects.

Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the superb job
you did in restoring my porch. Last summer I had at least ten carpenters look at my porch. I was told that I would lose all of my crown moulding, and that my banister could not be reproduced. These comments came from carpenters recommended by the University City Historical Society. Many of them were just plain afraid to touch that beam. After an exhaustive search, I thought maybe I’ll just look in the yellow pages. Thank God. You were truly an answer to my prayers. I’ve learned so much from you about wood and how things are supposed to be done. … I am so happy and grateful. It’s a beautiful job.

I have worked with Greg Lord and Architectural Millwork Associates on a wide range of projects over the past twenty years.  During that span, Greg and AMA have met every challenge with imagination and professionalism.
When my company faced a complex and demanding installation of high end interior fixtures and finishes for a national retailer’s flagship Manhattan location, Greg and his team were able to manage the competing pressures of schedule and quality control the project required.  Similarly, when confronted with renovations requiring an understanding of historical context and detail to execute the work, the outcome was similarly successful.
I would heartily recommend Greg and AMA for almost any flavor of architectural woodwork or finish carpentry.
